Advent For the Family

December 10, 2012

It's Monday!

Begin by lighting the same two candles as last evening.

Christmas Carol:

Little Drummer Boy

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
When we come.

Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum,
On my drum?

Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum pum
The ox and lamb kept time, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my drum for Him, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Then He smiled at me, pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum.

Bible Reading:

Zechariah 6

12 Tell him this is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Here is the man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the LORD . 13 It is he who will build the temple of the LORD , and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.'

Activity: Mini Gift Stockings

Recipe Idea:

Peanut Butter Cup

Ingredients:

1 lb. powdered sugar
1/4 lb. margarine (1 stick)
6 oz. milk chocolate
1 cup peanut butter

Melt margarine in a small saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter. Transfer mixture to a mixing bowl and gradually add powdered sugar. Stir until mixed well and press into a pie pan. Melt chocolate and spread over top. Chill.

Closing Prayer: Did you ever see "The Little Drummer Boy?" His gift to baby Jesus was a very simple one but it came from his heart and had great value. Gifts from the heart are the BEST ones you can give or receive this Christmas. Give the gift of yourself to others by helping around the house or helping your neighbors with little chores. Most important, give Jesus a gift this Christmas and remember Him in all your celebrations. He loves you so much and wants to be near you this Christmas. As you pray tonight, tell Him how much you love Him. Ask Him to show you ways that you make Christmas meaningful to others this year.

End with a GIANT GROUP HUG!
