Advent For the Family
December
12, 2012
It's Wednesday!
Begin by lighting the same
two candles as last evening.
Christmas
Carol:
Over
the River and Through the Woods
Over
the river and through the woods
To Grandmother's house we go.
The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh
Through white and drifted snow.
Over
the river and through the woods,
Oh, how the wind does blow.
It stings the toes and bites the nose
As over the ground we go.
Over
the river and through the woods
To have a full day of play.
Oh, hear the bells ringing ting-a-ling-ling,
For it is Christmas Day.
Over
the river and through the woods,
Trot fast my dapple gray;
Spring o'er the ground just iike a hound,
For this is Christmas Day.
Over
the river and through the woods
And straight through the barnyard gate.
It seems that we go so dreadfully slow;
It is so hard to wait.
Over
the river and through the woods,
Now Grandma's cap I spy.
Hurrah for fun; the pudding's done;
Hurrah for the pumpkin pie.
Bible
Reading:
Malachi
3
1 "See, I will send my messenger, who
will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the
Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the
messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will
come," says the LORD Almighty. 2 But
who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand
when he appears? For he will be like a refiner's fire
or a launderer's soap. 3 He will sit as a
refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the
Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then
the LORD will have men who will bring offerings in
righteousness, 4 and the offerings of
Judah and Jerusalem will be acceptable to the LORD ,
as in days gone by, as in former years. 5
"So I will come near to you for judgment. I will
be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and
perjurers, against those who defraud laborers of
their wages, who oppress the widows and the
fatherless, and deprive aliens of justice, but do not
fear me," says the LORD Almighty. 6
"I the LORD do not change. So you, O descendants
of Jacob, are not destroyed.

Closing
Prayer: Do you know who the messenger is in the scripture
above? The messenger is John the Baptist and it was about
400 years after that prophecy when John began to preach
in the wilderness. John the Baptist was preparing the way
for the promised Saviour. He told the Jewish people to
repent and be sorry for their sins. With the coming of
the messenger in the wilderness, also came the greatest
event in human history. God planned everything so
perfectly. Jesus came down from His home in heaven to be
born in a manger in the city of Bethlehem. God has
promised His people that He would send a Saviour and He
fulfills all His promises. We can trust Him with
everything in our lives - little or small. Come to Him
tonight in prayer with all your needs and trust that He
will take care of you!
End
with a GIANT GROUP HUG!
