Advent For the Family
December
23, 2012
It's
Sunday!
Begin by lighting the same 3
candles as before. Then add the fourth candle - this
candle is known as the angel candle. All 4 candles will
be lit this week to symbolize the growing brightness of
the coming of Jesus.
Christmas
Carol:
Have
Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Have
yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on,
our troubles will be out of sight
Have
yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on,
our troubles will be miles away.
Here we
are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.
Through
the years
We all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star
upon the highest bough.
And have yourself
A merry little Christmas now.

The Birth of Jesus Christ
18This is how the birth of Jesus Christ
came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married
to Joseph, but before they came together, she was
found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. 19Because
Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not
want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind
to divorce her quietly.
20But after he had considered this, an
angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and
said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to
take Mary home as your wife, because what is
conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21She
will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the
name Jesus,[3] because he
will save his people from their sins."
22All this took place to fulfill what the
Lord had said through the prophet: 23"The
virgin will be with child and will give birth to a
son, and they will call him Immanuel"[4] --which
means, "God with us."
24When Joseph woke up, he did what the
angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary
home as his wife. 25But he had no union
with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave
him the name Jesus.

Closing:
Listen to the birth of Jesus on Audio Bible.
In
Matthew, the first chapter tells us about the family of
Jesus. We learn that Jesus was a descendant of Abraham,
Jacob, David and Solomon. REMEMBER that God promised His
people in the Old Testament that the Promised Messiah
would come from the line of David.
It's
very important that Jesus came from the line of David
because it provides even more evidence that Jesus is the
Promised Saviour.
End
with a GIANT GROUP HUG!
