Christmas Carol: We Wish You a Merry Christmas

We Wish You a Merry Christmas

We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin;

Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;

Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;

Oh, bring us a figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer: Refrain

We won't go until we get some;

We won't go until we get some;

We won't go until we get some, so bring some out here: Refrain

We wish you a Merry Christmas;

We wish you a Merry Christmas;

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Bible Reading:

Genesis 3

8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?"
10 He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."
11 And he said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"
12 The man said, "The woman you put here with me-she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it."
13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?"
The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."
14 So the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this,
"Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring [
1] and hers; he will crush [2] your head, and you will strike his heel."

Activity: Candy Cane Hearts Glue candy canes(2) together into a heart shape. Make a ribbon loop & glue to back at junction of heart shape. Glue jingle bell onto bottom of heart point & glue bow on top of heart point.

Recipe Idea: Peanut Butter Cups -

1 lb powdered sugar
1/4 lb margarine - 1 stick
6 oz. milk chocolate
1 cup of peanut butter

Melt margarine in a small saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter.
Transfer mixture to a mixing bowl and gradually add powdered sugar. Stir until mixed well and press into a pie pan. Melt chocolate and spread over top. Chill.

Closing Prayer: Talk as a family how this first verse in Genesis is a promise of the coming Messiah. Isn't it amazing to know that God was planning our redemption from the very beginning of mankind. It is also comforting to know that while we may only see a tiny picture of the big puzzle, God sees the entire work at hand. We can trust Him with our everyday needs because He cares for us and has been planning for us since the beginning of time. Come to Him tonight in prayer and praise Him for His majesty and thank Him for His unconditional love.

End with a GIANT GROUP HUG!
